If you have ever been to Utah you know its dry, dry ,dry. During the winter my skin, hair, and nails can definitely tell I need to be drinking double the water! I never use to think about water being such a staple for our diets, until I started to remember to drink it, what a difference it makes. I try to drink 20 oz of water or lemon water every morning to jump start my digestive system. My brain tells me to go straight for the coffee, but when I remember this simple step to my morning routine, I feel worlds better!

Drinking lemon water in the morning also has detoxing benefits! I try to remember to do this at least a few times a week before indulging in breakfast or anything else. Having warm or cold lemon water early in the morning helps flush out toxins and detox the body.

There are many reasons drinking enough water are beneficial, but here just a few reasons to keep hydrated:

Fluid balance
Roughly 60 percent of the body is made of water. Drinking enough H2O maintains the body’s fluid balance, which helps transport nutrients in the body, regulate body temperature, digest food, and more.
Clearer skin
Certain toxins in the body can cause the skin to inflame, which results in clogged pores and acne. Water flushes out these toxins and can reduce the risk of pimples.
Kidney function
Our kidneys process 200 quarts of blood daily, sifting out waste and transporting urine to the bladder. Kidneys need enough fluids to clear away what we don’t need in the body. We can all drink to that!

Believe it or not hydration also has a lot to do with hair health. Our hair thrives on moisture-rich environment and water is one of the best ways to quench its thirst. Just like our skin, hair also needs lubrication from inside out. Dehydration has a direct impact on the growth of hair. Lack of moisture results in dry and brittle hair. The roots of the hair are the means by which water is transported from the body. They soak up water and provide hydration to the rest of the hair strand. So if you live in a environment that is not moisture-rich all the more reason to be chugging water! I get it some days its difficult to remember to drink water, but the more we can remind ourselves to stay hydrated the better we will feel!

On top of drinking water its important to be using a deep moisturizer for hair and skin. I love to use a leave-in conditioner, hair oil, or moisturizing hair lotion. Schwarzkopf and Moroccan Oil are great options to help hair hydration!
